Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Man with Van Harold Hill in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships.
Modern slavery is a violation of fundamental human rights and includes slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, bonded labour, child labour, and human trafficking. We recognise that the transport and logistics sector, including moving and storage activities, can be exposed to risks, particularly where third party labour, subcontractors, or overseas suppliers are involved.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man with Van Harold Hill operates a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with any individual, organisation, or supplier involved in any form of modern slavery. Any confirmed breach of this policy will result in decisive action, which may include termination of contracts, removal from our approved supplier list, and where appropriate, reporting to relevant authorities.
Our zero-tolerance stance applies to all people working for or on behalf of Man with Van Harold Hill at every level. This includes direct employees, agency workers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and business partners. We expect all parties to uphold the same high standards and to embed practices that promote dignity, respect, and fair treatment of workers.
Our Supply Chain and Risk Management
Our primary operations are local transport and removals services. However, we recognise that our supply chain may include suppliers of vehicles, fuel, equipment, uniforms, and occasional subcontracted labour. We are committed to identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks of modern slavery within these relationships.
When onboarding new suppliers, we consider their approach to labour standards, employment practices, and worker welfare. We seek to work with suppliers who demonstrate transparent and ethical practices and who are willing to support our efforts to combat modern slavery.
Supplier Audits and Due Diligence
We are progressively strengthening our due diligence procedures to assess suppliers and contractors for potential risks relating to modern slavery. This includes requesting information about their employment practices, use of labour agencies, and adherence to applicable labour and human rights legislation.
Where proportionate to the nature and scale of the relationship, we may conduct audits or request evidence of policies, training, and compliance activities from suppliers. Any concerns arising from these checks will be investigated and addressed promptly. Where a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards, we will consider suspending or ending the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, contractors, and any third parties who work with us to raise concerns about any suspected instances of modern slavery or exploitative practices connected to our business. Concerns may include unfair recruitment, retention of identity documents, restriction of movement, debt bondage, or any form of coercion.
Individuals are encouraged to report concerns through existing internal reporting routes, such as raising issues with a line manager or a senior member of management. Reports will be treated seriously and sensitively, and we will investigate promptly and thoroughly. No person raising a concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up.
Training and Awareness
We aim to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and relevant contractors. This includes providing guidance on recognising indicators of modern slavery, understanding how it may arise within transport and logistics activities, and knowing how to report concerns.
By equipping our people with this knowledge, we aim to create a culture where unethical practices are challenged and where respect for human rights is embedded in daily operations and decision making.
Monitoring and Annual Review
Man with Van Harold Hill is committed to continuous improvement in the prevention of modern slavery. We will review this statement and our related practices at least once every year, or more frequently where changes in legislation, our operations, or identified risks make this necessary.
The annual review will consider feedback from staff, findings from any supplier checks or audits, and any concerns reported through our channels. We will use the outcomes of this review to update our procedures, strengthen controls, and refine our approach to supplier management and staff training.
This statement has been approved by the management of Man with Van Harold Hill and represents our ongoing commitment to combating modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms.
